Make Triple Adsense Earnings In 30 Days

In this article I want to share with you the tips and tricks I used to triple my AdSense earnings in one month.

I have been using Google AdSense to monetize my blogs and websites for as long as I remember. In fact it was the first method I ever tried (I made a whooping $15 on my first month back in 2005). Over the years I migrated to other methods (e.g., direct sponsors and affiliate marketing), which made AdSense become merely an inventory filler. I was still making around $1,000 monthly from it, but whenever I could I would use other methods over it.

Then some months ago I started noticing an upward trend on the CPC of my sites, and I figured that I should give AdSense another try. I started applying some tricks here and there, and the next month I made over $3,000 with it (that is combining all my sites). I was pleasantly surprised, and I decided to keep using it actively on some sites.

1. I added units to my Big Websites

Daily Blog Tips and Daily Writing Tips are my largest websites in terms of traffic. They are getting close to one million monthly page views (combined). Despite that I was not using AdSense on them, mainly because the direct sponsorship model was working relatively well.
Some months ago I decided to load some AdSense units on the sites, however, and the results were very positive. Around 70% of the boost I generated to my earnings came from these two sites. At the same time I managed to keep the other monetization methods working fine, and no reader ever complained about the new ads (more on that later).
Even if your blog is already making money with direct sponsors and affiliate marketing, therefore, you could still manage to increment your earnings by strategically adding some AdSense units.

2. I added units to my Small Websites

As many webmasters do, I have a bunch of small websites scattered around the web. Some are on free hosted platforms like Blogger, and others are self hosted sites that I abandoned along the way. Most of these sites still get traffic, however. Not much, but combined the numbers get decent.
I figured that adding AdSense units to all these sites could yield some money, and I was right. The main reason is that, since these are abandoned sites and dont have loyal visitors, I can place the units very aggressively. The result was a very high CTR (Click-through rate), which compensates the small traffic levels.
Dont underestimate the earning potential of small websites, especially if you are willing to place AdSense units aggressively.

3. I used the Large Units

If you want to make money with AdSense youll inevitably need to use one of these units: the 336280 large rectangle, the 300250 rectangle, the 120600 large skyscraper or the 72890 leaderboard.
Whenever I tried to use smaller units the results were disappointing. Even if I positioned them aggressively the CTR was just too low.
All four units mentioned above can produce good results, but the best performing one is by far the 336280 large rectangle, and that is the one I used to boost my earnings.

4. I placed the Units above the Fold

My first trial was to place the 336280 large rectangle between the post and the comments section of my blogs. The results were OK. I then decided to try placing them below the post titles for one week, and the CTR skyrocketed. In fact I still need to find a placement/unit combination that will beat placing a 336280 unit below post titles.
I knew this rule, but I guess I needed to test and get confirmation. The rule is: if you want to make money with Google AdSense, you must place your units above the fold.

5. I Focused on Organic Traffic

My main concern with adding a large AdSense unit right below my post titles was that some of the loyal readers could get annoyed with it. At the same time I knew that loyal readers become ad blind quite fast, and that the bulk of my money would come from organic visitors (i.e., people coming via search engines to my posts).
To solve this problem I decided to display the large rectangle only on posts older than seven days (using the Why Do Work WordPress plugin). It worked like a charm, as loyal readers dont even notice the ad units when they are browsing through my recent posts, and organic visitors almost always see the ads because they usually land on posts older than seven days.

6. I started using AdSense for Search

I was not sure how much money I would be able to make with AdSense for Search, but I was not happy with the search results provided by WordPress, so I decided to give it a shot anyway.
Currently I am making around $60 monthly with AdSense for Search. It is not much, but if you sum it over one year we are talking about $720. On top of that the search results are as relevant as youll get, so it is a win win situation.

7. I started using AdSense for Feeds

Another AdSense product I decided to try was the AdSense for Feeds one. I opted to display the ads below my feed items (you can also place them on top, but this would be too intrusive in my opinion). The results here were pretty good, both in terms of CTR and earnings.
You obviously need a large RSS subscriber base to make this work, but I am guessing that even with a couple thousand subscribers you could already make $100 monthly from feed ads.

8. I played around with section targeting

Section targeting is an AdSense feature that allows you to suggest specific sections of your site that should be used when matching ads. You can read more about it here.
I found that on niche and small websites section targeting can help a lot. Often times Google was displaying unrelated ads on these sites because there werent enough pages. After using section targeting I managed to increase the relevancy of the ads and consequently the CTRs.

9. I tested with Different Colors and Fonts

If you enabled both image and text ads on your units you should be able to customize the colors and fonts. I did some testing with both of these factors, and it helped to increase the numbers. Nothing dramatic, but it was definitely worth my time.

You just need to track your CTR for a couple of weeks. Then change the color or font and track it for another week, seeing if you can beat the original CTR. If you can, keep the new format. If you the performance decreased, try a new color or font and track the CTR for another week, until you find the optimal combination.

On my sites the best results came from making the ad units merge with the look of the site, but on some sites contrasting colors perform better, so testing is a must.

We could talk for days about all of the elements needed to make a successful website and we wouldn’t be wasting any of our time, there are a lot of optimization and content elements that could have you redesigning your site over and over. But to get right down to the grind, keywords are the most important aspect of a site, no ifs ands or buts. If you fail with your keywords, it would be just about impossible to imagine how your site could be successful. Let’s talk about the number one most important element of all, how to find highly profitable keywords.

Highly Profitable Keywords

Everyone knows that keywords are crucial to a site, however what makes a keyword are good keyword? What are the guidelines that let you know how to find highly profitable keywords and not ones that will sink your ship, so to speak? The answer is that highly profitable keywords will be words or phrases which are frequently searched for in major search engines, but that are not already being used by a large amount of websites. Sound tricky, doesn’t it? Well, it is a bit tricky; however that is the magic of the Internet. And we will discuss several ways on how you can find highly profitable keywords to either optimize your site better or to get a new website off to a great start.

One of the first things that you may wish to do is to get out a pad of paper instead of getting on the keyboard. Brainstorm for a few moments. Your site must have a theme, it must have a focus, a certain set of words that tell what your website is about. The secret is to slightly change those words so that they are still words that are searched for, but your competition is lower. For example if your site is about soap, millions of people type in the very generalized word “soap”, too many for you to compete against. Therefore, you will need to come up with profitable keywords for your site, and use a different keyword that does have a good amount of use, but not so much that you are hidden by your competition.

One great tool for finding highly profitable keywords is the Wordtracker. It functions as many keyword generators do, you enter the keyword that you had in mind and Wordtracker will suggest hundreds of alternatives, all similar to your idea, but slightly different, perhaps finding you that perfect niche that we are all in search of.

You may also wish to check out Google Adwords Keyword tool, originally meant to help advertisers figure out how much to bid on words, you can use this in much the same way. You can enter one keyword or several at the same time. It also allows you to filter results if you wish, for example one filter will keep out profanity. Then, suggestions are listed out for you along with number. You’ll notice that the numbers let you know how many times each certain keyword was searched for in the last month. In some cases information is not available, and while it is not stated, one would assume that the number is very low.

Keyword spy is another resource that works a bit differently. You can actually type in a keyword and it will let you know which sites are currently implementing that very same keyword. You can then also see which other keywords that are using as well.

Here are few important concepts for you to increase your earnings with Adsense by making small changes into your ads. If you are a newbie, you will definitely get benefited with these videos.

Ad Position

This is the most important aspect which is usually ignored by the users. The ads should be placed where the users can view them. If you are going to place your ads in the footer where no one views them, it’s of no use. This video demonstrates how this could be possible with a real life example.

Make the ads more relevant
Use se Section Targeting when you work with Google Adsense. Use <!– google_ad_section_start –> at the beginning and <!– google_ad_section_end –> at the end of your Google adsense code. Also ignore reader comments and navigation by putting <!– google_ad_section_start(weight=ignore) –> at the beginning and <!– google_ad_section_end –> at the end of the adsense code.

Targeting expensive keywords
Check bids and revise content accordingly – e.g. house painting vs. home improvement. Try it and you will find an improvement. Also, if you don’t know what keyword to choose, go to the Google adwords tools section and choose for there.

What type of ads to choose from adsenseThere are a lot of ads to choose from adsense but one of the most used is the 728 x 90 (leaderboard). This is best to use if you are just starting with adsense and best placed at the top of your page (usually under the header title). You can also place it between your conent and it blends well with your content. Also, avoid placing ads in your footer because not a lot of readers would go that far.

If you don’t have much space for ads, you can also consider using the 468 x 60 (Banners) and 234 x 60 (Half-Banners). You can also place them at the top or in between you content just like the leaderboards. You can experiment by using different ads a week and use the one with the best results.

I recommend not using the 468 x60 (Banners) type of ads because it is one of the most commonly used one so if you use it, people will know right away that it’s an ads so they will AVOID it. Just like what i said, people avoid ads as much as possible so it’s not a good idea to use the 468 x 60 (Banners).

From my experience, the 336 x 280 (Large Rectangle) had the MOST CLICKS because it is the type of ads that blends best with the content.

If you want to place ads in your sidebars, you can choose from 160 x 600 (Wide Skyscraper), 120 x 600 (Skyscraper), and 120 x 240 (Vertical Banner). These are the best type of ads that will fit in your sidebar.

Don’t put too much ads on your siteAvoid putting a lot of ads in your site because if you do that, people will lose interest in visiting your site because people want good content and not ads. So we can use the quality over quantity where we place only a few ads but has good placements.

Ads placed above the foldPeople spend a lot of time above the fold so this is the best place to put your ads. Above the fold is the first place where people can see without scrolling. This is the perfect place for your ads.

Choose text ads over image adsIn my opinion, people hate banners and will avoid it as much as possible. Text ads are also easy to blend with your content compared to image ads because you’ll never know what kind if image will come out. But, you can also consider image ads as your last resort.

Too Quick is Too Bad:
Always allow time for changes to take effect. Keep in mind that gathering information is key to find out a trend. And those trends will help your Google Adwords campaign a success.

Set a Time and Stick with it:
Initially work in time intervals of seven days. Usually a 5-7 days window is enough for an ad to give you enough information whether you should move forward with that is not.

Control, control and control:
Always keep control. Micromanaging and being control freak by check your campaign every house and tweaking it will make you relax later.

Promptness =$$$
A neglected Adwords account is a dangerous. Don’t believe it, then go ahead and give it a shot. You will be amazed how quickly you will overspend your budget.

Now you already know the golden rules for your Google Adwords, if you dont have any account yet. Go ahead and do so. Remember, practice makes perfect.

<!-- Please place the above code into your site where you want to have a bookmark/share/publicize link.
It is not easy to guarantee that the third parties services can help you boost your blog PR in a short time as Google determine this on its own way. Google will update its ranking system without any fixed schedule and backlinks – the key factors that help your blog get PR, sometimes do not work if Google identifies your blog contents are written per requests from different advertisers.

Many of bloggers have needed financial help for their marketing campaigns in promoting their services to the worldwide but they did not know that buying backlinks was not the right way to gain PR nowadays.

Not all backlinks of your blog are counted by Google system but only quality backlinks from the same type of linked-blogs are the most important factors that help determine your blog rankings. If you need these backlinks, you need to pay for it through a quality company with high reputation. Further, these quality backlinks must come from other blogs that have higher PR level than yours.

Another tip that helps you gain PR for FREE is to read other related blogs and comment on their posts with your blog URL added. This is a simple way but not many bloggers apply as they are very lazy.

If you think you do not have time to go around to comment, you should pay for this service. There are a lot of companies that can offer you online lending service in short time and you can use this budget for your marketing campaigns.
